How to get there

By Plane
Santorini is served by Santorini National Airport (JTR), which is located just 8 km (5 miles) south east of Fira. The two local airlines, Aegean Airlines and Olympic Airlines, offer direct flights  to Santorini.

The flight takes 45 to 50 minutes. From May to October there are 4 flights per day operated by each of the two airlines (so 8 total flights).

Besides the local airlines, many European operators have direct flights to Santorini, from the airports of Munich, London, Zurich, Moscow and others.
By Boat
One of the most romantic ways to get to Santorini is by boat. The ferries linking Athens (Piraeus) to Santorini (Thira) take between 5 and 8 hours, depending on the company and type of vessel.

During the summer season (mid-May to late October) there are several connections per day. The high speed ferry departs daily twice a day in the summer season and is much faster than the normal ones, making the trip in 5 hours.

There are also many interconnections with the surrounding islands, which one can find in the local travel agencies.
